Baku: Caspian Seafront and Flame Tower Silhouettes at Golden Hour
Hora dourada, hora azul e crepúsculo em Baku. Dados astronômicos NASA JPL DE441.
Photo tip
Maiden Tower upper platform at sunset: face north over Baku Boulevard and the Caspian for the Flame Towers in warm direct light with the sea reflecting the sky below. A 15-minute window of pure glass-reflected golden light closes when the LED programme takes over at dusk.
Baku sits at 40.4°N on the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan. Golden hour lasts roughly 38 minutes. The Baku Boulevard (4.5 km north-facing seafront) provides unobstructed views east over the water at sunrise and the city skyline at sunset. The Flame Towers (three buildings at 182, 161, and 140 m) reflect the sky in warm tones at golden hour — their curved glass surfaces rotate through amber, rose, and gold as the sun angle drops. The Icherisheher (Old City, UNESCO World Heritage) contains the Maiden Tower (29 m, 12th century) at the southern edge of the walled medina; from the top, the view north covers the entire Boulevard, the Caspian, and the Flame Towers. The Heydar Aliyev Centre (Zaha Hadid, 2012) 3 km northeast provides modern architectural contrast in the same golden register.
