Toronto: Glass Towers and the Lake at Sunrise

Hora dourada, hora azul e crepúsculo em Toronto. Dados astronômicos NASA JPL DE441.

Conselho fotográfico

Toronto Islands, Hanlan's Point western shore: face north for the full skyline with the CN Tower at sunset. The ferry takes 15 minutes; arrive on the islands an hour before sunset to walk to the point.

Toronto faces south across Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes, giving the city a clear southern horizon over water for both sunrise and late-day light. The CN Tower at 553 meters is visible from 100 kilometers; at golden hour its glass and steel surfaces catch the warm light and hold it longer than the surrounding buildings. The Toronto Islands, a chain of low barrier islands 3 kilometers offshore, provide the reverse angle: from the western tip of Hanlan's Point, the full Toronto skyline rises above the lake with the CN Tower prominent. At 43.7°N, golden hour runs about 43 minutes in summer. Winter produces dramatic light: ice floes on Lake Ontario create unusual foregrounds, and cold clear air reduces haze.
