Tokyo Skytree and the First Light Over the Bay
Hora dourada, hora azul e crepúsculo em Tokyo. Dados astronômicos NASA JPL DE441.
Photo tip
Odaiba waterfront at dawn: face northwest for the Rainbow Bridge and city skyline. Marunouchi district on a clear winter morning for the Fuji silhouette above the low roofline at dusk.
Tokyo sits on the northwestern shore of Tokyo Bay, facing southeast, with Mount Fuji (3,776 m) rising 100 kilometers to the southwest. Sunrise comes over the bay from the east; Odaiba waterfront, on a reclaimed island in the bay, faces northwest back toward the city skyline and the Rainbow Bridge. The Tokyo Skytree at 634 meters is the world's tallest broadcasting tower and offers two observation decks for panoramic city light. From Marunouchi, the sun rises between the Tokyo Tower and Skytree on clear winter mornings when Fuji appears on the horizon behind them at sunset. Shinjuku Gyoen lake provides ground-level reflections. At 35.7°N, golden hour runs about 36 minutes. Winter (December through February) offers the clearest air and the best Fuji visibility; the peak catches alpenglow orange 20 minutes before city sunset.
