Davison chart
A real birth moment for a real relationship
The Davison chart was introduced by Ronald Davison in the 1970s as an alternative to the composite. Rather than averaging planetary longitudes, it finds the exact midpoint in time between two births and calculates a genuine natal chart for that moment and place.
The midpoint location is the geographic average of the two birth places. The UTC offset is derived from longitude (solar time approximation), which is standard practice for Davison charts.
Because it's a real astronomical calculation, the Davison chart includes phenomena the composite cannot produce — retrograde planets, actual aspect patterns formed by planetary motion, and houses grounded in a real geographic location. It is considered by many astrologers to be more dynamic and less abstract than the composite.
