Solar Arc Directions

Every natal point advances by the same arc

Solar arc directions apply the Sun's progressed arc uniformly to every natal planet, angle, and sensitive point. Unlike secondary progressions — where each body has its own velocity — all directed points move the same distance, approximately 1° per year of life.

The solar arc equals the angular distance the Sun has traveled from its natal position in the progressed chart. For a 45-year-old person, the arc is roughly 45°: natal Venus at 12° Taurus becomes directed Venus at 27° Gemini.

Aspects from directed planets to natal angles (Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, IC) are considered the most significant solar arc indicators. They tend to coincide with visible changes in circumstances.

Solar arc directions are a symbolic timing technique. Directed positions do not describe actual planetary locations. No predictions are made on this platform.
