São Paulo: the City Horizon and the Pinheiros River at Dusk
Golden hour, blue hour, and twilight times in São Paulo. NASA JPL DE441 astronomical data.

Terraço Italia rooftop bar (41st floor): face southwest at sunset for the Pinheiros River bend and the low city horizon. Ponte Estaiada cable-stayed bridge at golden hour for river reflections and the São Paulo skyline backdrop.
São Paulo is the largest city in the southern hemisphere, sitting on a plateau at 760 meters elevation. Its flat urban density means the photographic interest lies in structure rather than landscape. Terraço Italia, a rooftop bar on the 41st floor of Edifício Italia (168 m) in the financial centre, offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. The Pinheiros River bends south through the west of the city; from Ponte Estaiada (cable-stayed bridge), the low skyline catches gold in the last light. Ibirapuera Park lake, 3 kilometers south of the financial centre, provides ground-level water reflections facing the park pavilions. At -23.5°S, golden hour lasts about 26 minutes. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent from October through March, after which the atmosphere clears to produce sharp warm light; the post-storm window is the single best photographic opportunity in the city.
