The sky at birth

With a documented birth time, the full chart can be cast. The Ascendant falls at 16°02' Capricorn and the Midheaven at 14°08' Scorpio, which fixes the angular framework and allows the planets to be placed in houses.

Sun is at 1°15' Gemini, house 4. Moon is at 5°32' Aries, house 2. Mercury is at 18°11' Gemini, house 5. Venus is at 6°32' Taurus, house 3. Mars is at 1°08' Cancer, house 6. Jupiter is at 18°56' Aries, house 3. Saturn is at 19°07' Sagittarius, house 11, retrograde. Uranus is at 25°41' Sagittarius, house 12, retrograde. Neptune is at 7°32' Capricorn, house 12, retrograde. Pluto is at 7°56' Scorpio, house 9, retrograde.

The tightest major aspects between planets: Jupiter trine Saturn (0°10'); Neptune sextile Pluto (0°25'); Mercury sextile Jupiter (0°45'); Mercury opposite Saturn (0°56'); Venus trine Neptune (1°00'); Venus opposite Pluto (1°25').

Neptune sextile Pluto (0°25') is structural but generational — an alignment of slow-moving outer planets shared across many birth years.

The engine also registers tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: Jupiter quincunx Pallas (0°01'); Jupiter semi-square Vesta (0°05'); Ceres quincunx Vesta (0°05'); Chiron semi-sextile Lilith (0°07'). These are reported for completeness and carry less weight in traditional reading.

The chart was calculated using NASA JPL DE441 ephemerides, sub-arcsecond precision.

Astronomical context

Pluto moved through its own sign, Scorpio, from 1983 to 1995. In astrological tradition Pluto in Scorpio is read as an intensification of themes of power, depth, crisis, and regeneration — the generation that grew up amid the digital turn and a transformed relationship to risk.

Novak Djokovic (born 1987) belongs to this generational configuration. Astrian groups profiles by such shared signatures rather than by any claim of shared destiny. Related profiles in Astrian: Roger Federer · Maria Sharapova · Naomi Osaka. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.

Symbolic reading

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.

The Sun in Gemini centres the chart on curiosity, exchange, and versatility. With the Ascendant in Capricorn, tradition adds ambition, structure, and the long view as the threshold through which that energy meets the world; the Sun marks the central drive, the Ascendant the manner of approach.

Among the personal planets, the Moon in Aries is associated in tradition with initiative, directness, and the will to begin; Mercury in Gemini with curiosity, exchange, and versatility; Venus in Taurus with stability, persistence, and the tangible; and Mars in Cancer with attachment, memory, and protection. These placements describe registers of feeling, thought, attraction, and action as the tradition catalogues them, independent of the life that follows.

Jupiter trine Saturn (0°10'): tradition reads expansion and meaning in easy flow with structure, limitation, and discipline.

Neptune sextile Pluto (0°25'): tradition reads dissolution, imagination, and idealism in supportive contact with depth, power, and transformation.

Mercury sextile Jupiter (0°45'): tradition reads thought and communication in supportive contact with expansion and meaning.

Mercury opposite Saturn (0°56'): tradition reads thought and communication set in polarity with structure, limitation, and discipline.

These placements are presented as a symbolic portrait, correlative and never causal — a description within the tradition's vocabulary, not an explanation of the life that follows.

Astrology is a symbolic language with 2,500 years of literature. The reading above is interpretive, not explanatory.

Astrian does not claim that the natal chart of Novak Djokovic caused or determined any of the above. Astrology is a symbolic system with 2,500 years of literature. Its capacity for retrospective description does not imply explanatory capacity.

A parallel life

The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.

Novak Djokovic was born on 22 May 1987 in Belgrade, in what was then Yugoslavia. He began playing tennis as a young child and trained through a period of conflict and economic hardship in the region, developing under the guidance of early coaches before rising through the junior and professional ranks.

He became one of the dominant players of an exceptional era in men's tennis, competing against contemporaries who were themselves among the greatest in the sport's history. Over his career he won a record number of men's Grand Slam singles titles across all four major tournaments, completing the career Grand Slam multiple times and winning each major repeatedly.

He set the record for the most weeks ranked world No. 1, a measure of sustained dominance across many years, and was noted for his exceptional return of serve, flexibility, defensive court coverage, and mental resilience in long matches. His rivalries with the other leading players of his generation defined much of the sport during the 2000s, 2010s, and into the 2020s.

He has also been a prominent and at times polarising public figure, including during the COVID-19 period, when his stance on vaccination affected his participation in certain tournaments. He long sought, and eventually won, an Olympic singles gold medal to complement his record at the majors.

Djokovic is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, his statistical record placing him at or near the summit of the men's game by most major measures.
