The sky at birth

With a documented birth time, the full chart can be cast. The Ascendant falls at 27°13' Capricorn and the Midheaven at 16°24' Scorpio, which fixes the angular framework and allows the planets to be placed in houses.

Sun is at 29°35' Scorpio, house 10. Moon is at 0°44' Libra, house 8. Mercury is at 6°34' Sagittarius, house 10. Venus is at 13°04' Libra, house 8. Mars is at 17°36' Gemini, house 5, retrograde. Jupiter is at 26°20' Leo, house 7. Saturn is at 24°57' Gemini, house 5, retrograde. Uranus is at 7°07' Gemini, house 4, retrograde. Neptune is at 3°41' Libra, house 8. Pluto is at 8°43' Leo, house 7, retrograde.

3 bodies occupy Libra (Moon, Venus and Neptune) and 3 bodies occupy Gemini (Mars, Saturn and Uranus) — a concentration that stands out as a structural feature of the chart.

The tightest major aspects between planets: Mercury opposite Uranus (0°34'); Sun sextile Moon (1°08'); Jupiter sextile Saturn (1°23'); Uranus sextile Pluto (1°35'); Mercury trine Pluto (2°09'); Mercury sextile Neptune (2°52').

Uranus sextile Pluto (1°35') is structural but generational — an alignment of slow-moving outer planets shared across many birth years.

The engine also registers tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: Pallas sesquiquadrate Lilith (0°05'); Saturn semi-square North Node (0°18'); Chiron sesquiquadrate Juno (0°20'); Uranus semi-sextile Ceres (0°22'). These are reported for completeness and carry less weight in traditional reading.

The chart was calculated using NASA JPL DE441 ephemerides, sub-arcsecond precision.

Astronomical context

Pluto moved through Leo from the late 1930s to the late 1950s. In astrological tradition this transit is associated with the collective transformation of self-expression, authority, and the cult of the individual — the cohort that rebuilt the post-war world and expanded mass culture.

Billie Jean King (born 1943) belongs to this generational configuration. Astrian groups profiles by such shared signatures rather than by any claim of shared destiny. Related profiles in Astrian: Martina Navratilova · Steffi Graf · Megan Rapinoe. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.

Symbolic reading

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.

The Sun in Scorpio centres the chart on intensity, depth, and the will to transform. With the Ascendant in Capricorn, tradition adds ambition, structure, and the long view as the threshold through which that energy meets the world; the Sun marks the central drive, the Ascendant the manner of approach.

Among the personal planets, the Moon in Libra is associated in tradition with balance, relationship, and proportion; Mercury in Sagittarius with expansion, conviction, and the horizon; Venus in Libra with balance, relationship, and proportion; and Mars in Gemini with curiosity, exchange, and versatility. These placements describe registers of feeling, thought, attraction, and action as the tradition catalogues them, independent of the life that follows.

Mercury opposite Uranus (0°34'): tradition reads thought and communication set in polarity with disruption and innovation.

Sun sextile Moon (1°08'): tradition reads identity and central purpose in supportive contact with emotional life and instinct.

Jupiter sextile Saturn (1°23'): tradition reads expansion and meaning in supportive contact with structure, limitation, and discipline.

Uranus sextile Pluto (1°35'): tradition reads disruption and innovation in supportive contact with depth, power, and transformation.

These placements are presented as a symbolic portrait, correlative and never causal — a description within the tradition's vocabulary, not an explanation of the life that follows.

Astrology is a symbolic language with 2,500 years of literature. The reading above is interpretive, not explanatory.

Astrian does not claim that the natal chart of Billie Jean King caused or determined any of the above. Astrology is a symbolic system with 2,500 years of literature. Its capacity for retrospective description does not imply explanatory capacity.

A parallel life

The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.

Billie Jean King was born on 22 November 1943 in Long Beach, California. She took up tennis as a girl and rose to the top of the amateur and then professional game, becoming one of the leading players of the 1960s and 1970s and winning many Grand Slam titles in singles and, in even greater numbers, in doubles.

Beyond her playing achievements she became one of the most influential figures in the history of the sport. In 1973 she won the widely watched "Battle of the Sexes" exhibition match against the former champion Bobby Riggs, a cultural moment of enormous significance for the perception of women's sport. She was central to the founding of the women's professional tennis tour and campaigned forcefully for equal prize money and recognition.

She became a leading public advocate for gender equality and, later, for LGBT rights, at a time when such advocacy carried significant personal and professional risk, and she was widely honoured for her work, including with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Her influence extended across sport and society, and major venues and awards were later named in her honour.

Billie Jean King is remembered as one of the most important figures in the history of tennis and of women's sport, her achievements on the court matched by a transformative impact off it.
