She became one of the most dominant players in the history of the sport. She won eighteen Grand Slam singles titles, including a record number of Wimbledon championships, and was even more prolific in doubles, accumulating one of the largest combined Grand Slam totals in tennis history. Her athletic, attacking, serve-and-volley game, supported by pioneering fitness and training methods, set new standards for the women's game.
