The sky at birth

With a documented birth time, the full chart can be cast. The Ascendant falls at 17°26' Cancer and the Midheaven at 24°15' Pisces, which fixes the angular framework and allows the planets to be placed in houses.

Sun is at 25°56' Libra, house 4. Moon is at 12°14' Leo, house 2. Mercury is at 1°41' Scorpio, house 5. Venus is at 28°41' Scorpio, house 5. Mars is at 9°46' Capricorn, house 6. Jupiter is at 6°51' Capricorn, house 6. Saturn is at 16°20' Scorpio, house 5. Uranus is at 11°06' Sagittarius, house 5. Neptune is at 29°04' Sagittarius, house 6. Pluto is at 1°49' Scorpio, house 5.

4 bodies occupy Scorpio (Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Pluto) — a concentration that stands out as a structural feature of the chart.

The tightest major aspects between planets: Mercury conjunct Pluto (0°07'); Moon trine Uranus (1°09'); Mercury sextile Neptune (2°38'); Neptune sextile Pluto (2°45'); Mars conjunct Jupiter (2°55'); Sun sextile Neptune (3°08').

Neptune sextile Pluto (2°45') is structural but generational — an alignment of slow-moving outer planets shared across many birth years.

The engine also registers tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: Neptune quincunx North Node (0°01'); Venus opposite North Node (0°22'); Pallas semi-sextile Lilith (0°32'); Pluto semi-square Juno (0°50'). These are reported for completeness and carry less weight in traditional reading.

The chart was calculated using NASA JPL DE441 ephemerides, sub-arcsecond precision.

Astronomical context

Pluto moved through its own sign, Scorpio, from 1983 to 1995. In astrological tradition Pluto in Scorpio is read as an intensification of themes of power, depth, crisis, and regeneration — the generation that grew up amid the digital turn and a transformed relationship to risk.

Lindsey Vonn (born 1984) belongs to this generational configuration. Astrian groups profiles by such shared signatures rather than by any claim of shared destiny. Related profiles in Astrian: Mikaela Shiffrin · Shaun White · Nadia Comăneci. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.

Symbolic reading

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.

The Sun in Libra centres the chart on balance, relationship, and proportion. With the Ascendant in Cancer, tradition adds attachment, memory, and protection as the threshold through which that energy meets the world; the Sun marks the central drive, the Ascendant the manner of approach.

Among the personal planets, the Moon in Leo is associated in tradition with expression, pride, and the creative self; Mercury in Scorpio with intensity, depth, and the will to transform; Venus in Scorpio with intensity, depth, and the will to transform; and Mars in Capricorn with ambition, structure, and the long view. These placements describe registers of feeling, thought, attraction, and action as the tradition catalogues them, independent of the life that follows.

Mercury conjunct Pluto (0°07'): tradition reads thought and communication fused with depth, power, and transformation.

Moon trine Uranus (1°09'): tradition reads emotional life and instinct in easy flow with disruption and innovation.

Mercury sextile Neptune (2°38'): tradition reads thought and communication in supportive contact with dissolution, imagination, and idealism.

Neptune sextile Pluto (2°45'): tradition reads dissolution, imagination, and idealism in supportive contact with depth, power, and transformation.

These placements are presented as a symbolic portrait, correlative and never causal — a description within the tradition's vocabulary, not an explanation of the life that follows.

A parallel life

The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.

Lindsey Caroline Vonn was born on October 18, 1984, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She grew up skiing in the Minneapolis area and began training seriously at a young age, moving to Colorado as a teenager to develop her racing career at the Ski Club Vail program. She made her World Cup debut at age sixteen in 2000.

Vonn became the first American woman to win the Olympic downhill title, taking gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She also won a bronze medal in super-G at the same Games. Her victory in Vancouver came after a difficult year in which she had sustained injuries and personal challenges, and her performance was widely praised across the alpine ski racing community.

Throughout her career, Vonn accumulated 82 World Cup victories, surpassing the previous women's record of 62 wins held by Annemarie Moser-Proell of Austria. She won four overall World Cup titles, in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012, and claimed multiple crystal globes in downhill and super-G. Her career was repeatedly interrupted by serious injuries, including multiple knee surgeries and a broken arm, yet she returned to competition each time.

Vonn announced her retirement from professional ski racing in February 2019, following a crash at the World Championships in Are, Sweden, where she sustained further knee damage. She had intended to compete through the 2022 Beijing Olympics but determined that her body could not sustain further competitive demands at that level.

After retirement, Vonn remained active in skiing as a television commentator and brand ambassador. In 2024, she staged a brief return to competitive skiing in a World Cup downhill race at age 39, finishing in the top ten and drawing significant media attention to the event.
