Thierry Henry

Thierry Daniel Henry was born on 17 August 1977 in Les Ulis, in the southern suburbs of Paris, and grew up in the area before joining the youth setup at AS Monaco, where he made his professional debut in the mid-1990s under Arsène Wenger. He began as a winger before later being converted into a central striker, the role in which he would achieve his greatest success.

After a brief spell at Juventus, he reunited with Wenger at Arsenal in 1999, and it was there that he became one of the outstanding forwards of his era. He became Arsenal's all-time leading goalscorer and a central figure in the side that went through the 2003–04 Premier League season unbeaten, a team remembered as "the Invincibles". His combination of pace, technique, and finishing made him one of the most admired attacking players in the world.

In 2007 he joined FC Barcelona, where he was part of the team that won the treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League in 2009. He later played for the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer, helping to raise the league's profile, before retiring.

With the France national team he won the 1998 World Cup on home soil and the 2000 European Championship, and he became one of his country's leading scorers across a long international career that spanned multiple major tournaments.

After retiring he moved into coaching and broadcasting, working as a television analyst and taking coaching roles including with the France youth and senior setups and at club level. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards of his generation and the defining player of a celebrated period at Arsenal.
