About this chart

No birth time is documented for this person. The chart therefore shows planetary positions in their signs, the slow aspects between them, and the generational context — but not house placements, the Ascendant, or the Midheaven, which require an accurate birth time. The Moon's sign carries a ±6° margin: if it falls near a sign boundary, the sign could vary. Positions for all other planets are reliable.

The sky at birth

No birth time is documented for Yuzuru Hanyu. The Ascendant, the Midheaven, and the house positions cannot be determined; the reading is confined to planetary sign placements and the aspects between planets. The positions below are calculated for noon local time and are accurate to a fraction of a degree for the slow-moving bodies.

The Moon is near 11°11' Aquarius (noon position, ±7° margin). Sun is at 14°46' Sagittarius. Mercury is at 10°53' Sagittarius. Venus is at 5°48' Scorpio. Mars is at 28°37' Leo. Jupiter is at 29°29' Scorpio. Saturn is at 6°20' Pisces. Uranus is at 24°08' Capricorn. Neptune is at 21°41' Capricorn. Pluto is at 28°37' Scorpio.

3 bodies occupy Scorpio (Venus, Jupiter and Pluto) — a concentration that stands out as a structural feature of the chart.

The tightest major aspects between planets: Mars square Pluto (0°00'); Moon sextile Mercury (0°19'); Venus trine Saturn (0°32'); Mars square Jupiter (0°52'); Jupiter conjunct Pluto (0°52'); Uranus conjunct Neptune (2°26').

Uranus conjunct Neptune (2°26') is structural but generational — an alignment of slow-moving outer planets shared across many birth years.

The engine also registers tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: Pallas sextile Vesta (0°16'); Moon sesquiquadrate Chiron (0°54'); Saturn trine Vesta (1°07'); Uranus trine Chiron (1°10'). These are reported for completeness and carry less weight in traditional reading.

The chart was calculated using NASA JPL DE441 ephemerides, sub-arcsecond precision.

Astronomical context

Pluto moved through its own sign, Scorpio, from 1983 to 1995. In astrological tradition Pluto in Scorpio is read as an intensification of themes of power, depth, crisis, and regeneration — the generation that grew up amid the digital turn and a transformed relationship to risk.

Yuzuru Hanyu (born 1994) belongs to this generational configuration. Astrian groups profiles by such shared signatures rather than by any claim of shared destiny. Related profiles in Astrian: Nadia Comăneci · Mikaela Shiffrin · Yuzuru Hanyu. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.

Symbolic reading

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.

The Sun in Sagittarius is the most prominent structural feature available without a birth time, centring the chart on expansion, conviction, and the horizon. There is no Ascendant or Midheaven to anchor the angles, so the reading rests on sign placements and the aspects between planets rather than on houses.

Among the personal planets, the Moon in Aquarius is associated in tradition with independence, abstraction, and the collective (the Moon's sign is given for the noon chart and may shift with an exact time); Mercury in Sagittarius with expansion, conviction, and the horizon; Venus in Scorpio with intensity, depth, and the will to transform; and Mars in Leo with expression, pride, and the creative self. These placements describe registers of feeling, thought, attraction, and action as the tradition catalogues them, independent of the life that follows.

Mars square Pluto (0°00'): tradition reads drive, assertion, and action in friction with depth, power, and transformation.

Moon sextile Mercury (0°19'): tradition reads emotional life and instinct in supportive contact with thought and communication.

Venus trine Saturn (0°32'): tradition reads values, attraction, and harmony in easy flow with structure, limitation, and discipline.

Mars square Jupiter (0°52'): tradition reads drive, assertion, and action in friction with expansion and meaning.

These placements are presented as a symbolic portrait, correlative and never causal — a description within the tradition's vocabulary, not an explanation of the life that follows.

Astrology is a symbolic language with 2,500 years of literature. The reading above is interpretive, not explanatory.

Astrian does not claim that the natal chart of Yuzuru Hanyu caused or determined any of the above. Astrology is a symbolic system with 2,500 years of literature. Its capacity for retrospective description does not imply explanatory capacity.

A parallel life

The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.

Yuzuru Hanyu was born on December 7, 1994, in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. He began figure skating at age four and demonstrated exceptional technical ability from an early age. He trained under his childhood coach in Sendai before moving to Toronto to work with coach Brian Orser at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club, a decision that significantly shaped his development as an athlete.

Hanyu became the first Asian man to win the Olympic figure skating title when he claimed gold at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics at age nineteen. He set a new world record score in the short program at Sochi and delivered a performance that established him as the dominant force in men's figure skating globally. He successfully defended his title at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, becoming the first male figure skater since Dick Button in 1948 and 1952 to win consecutive Olympic titles.

Throughout his competitive career, Hanyu set multiple world records in the short program, free skate, and combined total under the ISU Judging System. He was the first skater to surpass 300 points in the combined total, a benchmark he achieved multiple times. He won the Four Continents Championship twice and the Grand Prix Final six times consecutively between 2013 and 2018.

In 2011, the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami struck near his hometown of Sendai, and the ice rink where he trained was used as an evacuation center. Hanyu continued to train and competed at subsequent events despite the disruption to his home region, an episode that received considerable attention in Japan.

Hanyu announced his retirement from competitive figure skating in July 2022, transitioning to professional ice shows. He launched his own solo professional show, Notte Stellata, in Sendai in 2023. He remains a figure of enormous public following in Japan and internationally.
