The sky at birth

With a documented birth time, the full chart can be cast. The Ascendant falls at 22°26' Scorpio and the Midheaven at 4°58' Virgo, which fixes the angular framework and allows the planets to be placed in houses.

Sun is at 4°52' Cancer, house 8. Moon is at 5°48' Libra, house 10. Mercury is at 10°57' Cancer, house 8, retrograde. Venus is at 1°03' Gemini, house 7. Mars is at 10°56' Leo, house 9. Jupiter is at 17°40' Pisces, house 4. Saturn is at 7°51' Cancer, house 8. Uranus is at 23°40' Libra, house 11, retrograde. Neptune is at 7°31' Sagittarius, house 1, retrograde. Pluto is at 4°06' Libra, house 10.

3 bodies occupy Cancer (Sun, Mercury and Saturn) and 3 bodies occupy Libra (Moon, Uranus and Pluto) — a concentration that stands out as a structural feature of the chart.

The tightest major aspects between planets: Sun square Pluto (0°46'); Sun square Moon (0°56'); Moon conjunct Pluto (1°42'); Moon sextile Neptune (1°44'); Moon square Saturn (2°03'); Sun conjunct Saturn (2°59').

Neptune sextile Pluto (3°25') is structural but generational — an alignment of slow-moving outer planets shared across many birth years.

The engine also registers tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: Sun quincunx Lilith (0°15'); Saturn quincunx Pallas (0°22'); Uranus opposite Chiron (0°24'); Moon trine Lilith (0°41'). These are reported for completeness and carry less weight in traditional reading.

The chart was calculated using NASA JPL DE441 ephemerides, sub-arcsecond precision.

Astronomical context

Pluto travelled through Libra from 1971 to 1984. In astrological tradition this transit is associated with the transformation of relationships, partnership, and the idea of balance — the cohort that redrew norms around marriage, equality, and the terms of personal alliance.

Derek Jeter (born 1974) belongs to this generational configuration. Astrian groups profiles by such shared signatures rather than by any claim of shared destiny. Related profiles in Astrian: Barry Bonds · Ken Griffey Jr. · Mickey Mantle. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.

Symbolic reading

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.

The Sun in Cancer centres the chart on attachment, memory, and protection. With the Ascendant in Scorpio, tradition adds intensity, depth, and the will to transform as the threshold through which that energy meets the world; the Sun marks the central drive, the Ascendant the manner of approach.

Among the personal planets, the Moon in Libra is associated in tradition with balance, relationship, and proportion; Mercury in Cancer with attachment, memory, and protection; Venus in Gemini with curiosity, exchange, and versatility; and Mars in Leo with expression, pride, and the creative self. These placements describe registers of feeling, thought, attraction, and action as the tradition catalogues them, independent of the life that follows.

Sun square Pluto (0°46'): tradition reads identity and central purpose in friction with depth, power, and transformation.

Sun square Moon (0°56'): tradition reads identity and central purpose in friction with emotional life and instinct.

Moon conjunct Pluto (1°42'): tradition reads emotional life and instinct fused with depth, power, and transformation.

Moon sextile Neptune (1°44'): tradition reads emotional life and instinct in supportive contact with dissolution, imagination, and idealism.

These placements are presented as a symbolic portrait, correlative and never causal — a description within the tradition's vocabulary, not an explanation of the life that follows.

Astrology is a symbolic language with 2,500 years of literature. The reading above is interpretive, not explanatory.

Astrian does not claim that the natal chart of Derek Jeter caused or determined any of the above. Astrology is a symbolic system with 2,500 years of literature. Its capacity for retrospective description does not imply explanatory capacity.

A parallel life

The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.

Derek Sanderson Jeter was born on June 26, 1974, in Pequannock, New Jersey. He grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he starred in baseball at Kalamazoo Central High School. The New York Yankees selected him with the sixth overall pick in the 1992 MLB Draft. After developing in the minor league system, he made his Major League debut in 1995.

Jeter became the Yankees' full-time starting shortstop in 1996 and immediately made an impact, winning the American League Rookie of the Year award. That same year, the Yankees won the World Series, the first of five championships Jeter would help the team win, including three consecutive titles from 1998 to 2000 and another in 2009.

Over his career, Jeter compiled 3,465 hits, placing him sixth on the all-time MLB hits list. He was a 14-time All-Star selection and won five Gold Glove Awards at shortstop. His performance in important games earned him a reputation as a clutch player, and he was named World Series MVP in 2000. He was named the Yankees' captain in 2003, a title he held until his retirement.

Jeter retired after the 2014 season, having spent his entire 20-year career with the Yankees. He was known for his professionalism, consistency, and community engagement through the Turn 2 Foundation, which he established in 1996 to help young people avoid drugs and alcohol.

In 2020, Jeter was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, appearing on 396 of 397 ballots cast, one vote shy of unanimous selection. He later became the chief executive officer and part-owner of the Miami Marlins franchise.
