About this chart
No birth time is documented for this person. The chart therefore shows planetary positions in their signs, the slow aspects between them, and the generational context — but not house placements, the Ascendant, or the Midheaven, which require an accurate birth time. The Moon's sign carries a ±6° margin: if it falls near a sign boundary, the sign could vary. Positions for all other planets are reliable.

No birth time is documented for Barack Obama. The Ascendant, Midheaven, and house positions cannot be determined. The planetary positions below are calculated for noon local time and are accurate to within a fraction of a degree for the slow-moving planets. The Moon's position carries a margin of approximately ±7°.
The Sun is at 12°15' Leo. The Moon is at 29°26' Taurus (noon position, ±7° margin). Mercury is at 1°42' Leo. Venus is at 1°26' Cancer. Mars is at 22°23' Virgo. Jupiter is at 0°53' Aquarius R. Saturn is at 25°21' Capricorn R. Uranus is at 25°15' Leo. Neptune is at 8°36' Scorpio. Pluto is at 6°58' Virgo.
The chart features an exceptionally tight Saturn-Uranus quincunx: Saturn at 25°21' Capricorn and Uranus at 25°15' Leo are separated by 0°06', one of the most precise aspects calculable for this date. Mercury at 1°42' Leo opposes Jupiter at 0°53' Aquarius retrograde (0°49'), and Venus at 1°26' Cancer forms a quincunx to the same Jupiter (0°33'). Three planets occupy Leo: the Sun at 12°15', Mercury at 1°42', and Uranus at 25°15'.
The tightest major aspects between planets: Saturn quincunx Uranus (0°06'), Venus quincunx Jupiter (0°33'), Mercury opposition Jupiter (0°49'), Neptune sextile Pluto (1°38'), Mars trine Saturn (2°58'), Sun square Neptune (3°39').
The engine also identifies the following tight minor aspects involving asteroids and calculated points: saturn quincunx uranus (0.10° app); ceres square lilith (0.20° app); jupiter sextile juno (0.24° app); mercury semi-sextile venus (0.28° sep).
Those born between approximately 1957 and 1972 carried Pluto in Virgo. This generation grew up amid the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, and Watergate. They came of age during the economic restructuring of the 1980s, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of the information economy.
In astrological tradition, Pluto in Virgo is associated with collective transformation of the domains that sign governs: work, health, systems of service, practical method, and the relationship between labor and daily life. Virgo is the sign of analysis, precision, and the refinement of process. Pluto's transit through Virgo is read, symbolically, as a generational mandate to overhaul the machinery of ordinary life — its systems, its institutions, its working assumptions. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.
Others in the Astrian collection born under this configuration include Michael Jackson (1958), Madonna (1958), Diego Maradona (1960), and Quentin Tarantino (1963). Obama, born in 1961, belongs to the central years of this generational wave.

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.
The Sun at 12°15' Leo is the most prominent structural feature of this chart. Without a documented birth time, there is no Ascendant or Midheaven — the reading is confined to planetary positions by sign and the aspects between planets.
The Moon at 29°26' Taurus represents the noon position; the actual placement falls within approximately 7° on either side. If born early in the day, the Moon could be in the mid-degrees of Taurus; if born late, it might cross into Gemini. The Moon's sign placement is uncertain at the boundaries.
Mercury at 1°42' Leo, Venus at 1°26' Cancer, and Mars at 22°23' Virgo complete the personal planet picture.
### Saturn quincunx Uranus: the razor-tight aspect
The chart's most precise configuration is the quincunx between Saturn at 25°21' Capricorn retrograde and Uranus at 25°15' Leo — an orb of 0°06'. This is, for practical purposes, exact.
In the tradition, the quincunx (150°) connects signs that share neither element, modality, nor polarity. It creates an aspect of persistent tension that does not resolve into the familiar patterns of cooperation or opposition. Saturn represents structure, convention, institutional authority, and the endurance of established form. Uranus represents disruption, originality, the impulse to break from precedent. The quincunx between them does not blend these registers comfortably; it holds them in a relationship of continuous, productive misalignment.
Saturn in Capricorn — its own sign, in domicile — operates with particular authority in the register of governance, hierarchy, and institutional order. Uranus in Leo operates in the register of creative self-assertion, leadership, and the dramatization of identity. The quincunx between these two positions, at 0°06', is read in the tradition as a configuration where the capacity for institutional operation and the impulse toward disruption coexist in an exceptionally tight, unresolved tension.
The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.
Barack Hussein Obama II was born on 4 August 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Barack Obama Sr., a Kenyan studying economics at the University of Hawaii, and Ann Dunham, an eighteen-year-old from Wichita, Kansas, who was studying anthropology at the same university. His parents married in February 1961 and separated when he was two; his father returned to Kenya and they saw each other only once more, briefly, in 1971. Obama Sr. died in a car accident in Nairobi in 1982.
From ages six to ten, Obama lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, with his mother and her second husband, Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian geographer. He returned to Honolulu in 1971 and was raised largely by his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham. He attended Punahou School, a private college preparatory academy, graduating in 1979.
He studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years, then transferred to Columbia University in New York, where he graduated with a degree in political science in 1983. After working as a financial analyst and then as a community organizer on Chicago's South Side — three years in the Altgeld Gardens housing project and surrounding neighborhoods — he entered Harvard Law School in 1988. In 1990, he became the first Black president of the Harvard Law Review. He graduated magna cum laude in 1991.
He returned to Chicago. He joined the civil rights law firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, first as a lecturer, then as a senior lecturer. He published Dreams from My Father in 1995, a memoir about identity, race, and his absent father.
He married Michelle Robinson, a Harvard-trained lawyer from Chicago's South Side, on 3 October 1992. They have two daughters: Malia (born 1998) and Sasha (born 2001).
He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, representing the 13th district (Hyde Park, Kenwood, South Shore). He served three terms, sponsoring ethics reform legislation, an expansion of early childhood education, and a state earned income tax credit. He ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives in 2000, losing the Democratic primary to the incumbent Bobby Rush.

### Mercury opposition Jupiter
Mercury at 1°42' Leo opposes Jupiter at 0°53' Aquarius retrograde, orb 0°49'. Mercury governs communication, speech, and the articulation of thought. Jupiter governs vision, expansion, and the broad sweep of ideas. In opposition, they create a polarity between detailed articulation and expansive reach — the particular word and the grand narrative. The Leo-Aquarius axis, in the tradition, governs the relationship between individual authority and collective purpose.
### Venus quincunx Jupiter
Venus at 1°26' Cancer forms a quincunx to Jupiter at 0°53' Aquarius, orb 0°33'. Venus in Cancer operates in the register of home, family, emotional security, and the sense of belonging. Jupiter in Aquarius retrograde operates in the register of collective ideals, social vision, and humanitarian principle. The quincunx between them is read as a configuration where the private emotional world and the public ideological commitment do not merge smoothly but remain in a state of necessary adjustment.
### Sun square Neptune
The Sun at 12°15' Leo squares Neptune at 8°36' Scorpio, orb 3°39'. The Sun represents central identity; Neptune represents the ideal, the dissolving of fixed boundaries, and the capacity for empathy or illusion. In square, these two registers create tension — an identity that is pulled between the concreteness of self and the porousness of shared identification. The Leo-Scorpio square, in the tradition, connects individual expression with the hidden dynamics of power and collective emotion.
### The Leo concentration
Three planets in Leo — the Sun, Mercury, and Uranus — constitute a notable concentration, though they span nearly 24° of the sign. In the vocabulary of the tradition, Leo governs self-expression, creative authority, leadership, and the presentation of identity in public space. Three planets in this sign direct a significant proportion of the chart's energy toward these domains.
The planetary pattern here is read as a symbolic portrait, not a causal explanation. No planet caused, predicted, or determined any event or characteristic.

In 2004, he won the Democratic nomination for the US Senate from Illinois. His keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in Boston in July 2004 — a speech about national unity across partisan and racial lines — brought him to national prominence overnight. He won the Senate seat in November with 70% of the vote.
He announced his presidential candidacy in February 2007. He defeated Hillary Clinton in a prolonged Democratic primary and won the general election against John McCain on 4 November 2008, carrying 365 electoral votes. He was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States on 20 January 2009 — the first of African-American descent.
His administration's principal domestic achievement was the Affordable Care Act (2010), which extended health insurance coverage to approximately twenty million previously uninsured Americans. He signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (2010), repealed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (2010), and his administration argued the successful case before the Supreme Court for nationwide marriage equality in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015). In foreign policy, he ordered the raid that killed Osama bin Laden (May 2011), negotiated the Iran nuclear deal (2015), normalized diplomatic relations with Cuba (2014), and signed the Paris Climate Agreement (2016). He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
He won re-election in 2012, defeating Mitt Romney with 332 electoral votes. He left office on 20 January 2017.
