Those born between approximately 1957 and 1972 carried Pluto in Virgo. This generation grew up during the late Cold War, the space race, the military dictatorships of Latin America, and the first stirrings of the information economy. In Argentina, they came of age while the country oscillated between populist movements, juntas, and economic crises that dismantled the industrial working class their parents had built.
In astrological tradition, Pluto in Virgo is associated with collective transformation of the domains that sign governs: precision, technical mastery, analysis, the decomposition of systems into their functional parts, and the drive to optimize what exists through relentless, methodical improvement. Virgo is the sign of the craftsman, the analyst, the one who makes things work. The symbolic reading is correlative, not causal.
Other profiles in the Astrian collection born under this configuration include Madonna (1958), Michael Jackson (1958), Tim Cook (1960), Jeff Bezos (1964), and Elon Musk (1971). Maradona, born in 1960, belongs to the early years of this generational wave.

The following describes what classical astrological tradition associates with these configurations. Astrian does not apply these descriptions to the person's biography.
The Sun at 6°59' Scorpio in the twelfth house is the most prominent structural feature of this chart. Three planets occupy Scorpio — Sun, Neptune, and Mercury retrograde — joined by the Ascendant at 28°14' Scorpio. The chart's water emphasis is reinforced by the Moon in Pisces and Mars in Cancer: six of the eleven principal points fall in water signs.
The structural centrepiece is a three-body configuration linking the Sun, Neptune, and Pluto. A secondary axis runs between Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Capricorn, an opposition that spans the axis of origin and ambition.
### Sun conjunct Neptune in Scorpio, sextile Pluto: identity and the mythological
The Sun at 6°59' Scorpio conjoins Neptune at 8°48' Scorpio (1°49'). Both sextile Pluto at 7°42' Virgo — the Sun within 0°43', Neptune within 1°06'. The three bodies form a tight triangular configuration across Scorpio and Virgo.
The Sun governs identity and the central organizing principle of the personality. Neptune governs vision, dissolution, and the capacity to serve as a vessel for collective imagination. Their conjunction in Scorpio — the sign of depth, concentrated power, and what operates beneath the surface — merges the identity faculty with the visionary-dissolving faculty in the register of what is hidden, strategic, and emotionally absolute. The sextile to Pluto in Virgo connects this conjunction to the transformative depth of Pluto in the sign of craft and technical mastery.
The tradition reads Sun-Neptune conjunctions as configurations where the boundary between self and myth becomes permeable. The individual attracts projection — becomes, willingly or not, a container for collective desire.
### Moon in Pisces trine Mars in Cancer: the emotional engine
The Moon at 16°57' Pisces trines Mars at 15°47' Cancer (1°10'), one of the tightest aspects in the chart. The Moon in Pisces governs an emotional faculty that absorbs the atmosphere of its surroundings without filter — porous, empathic, responsive to collective feeling. Mars in Cancer governs action rooted in instinct, territory, and protective drive. The trine places them in cooperation: the emotional and the active faculties work together through the medium of water — feeling translates directly into movement.
The following are verified biographical facts. No connection to the natal chart is implied.
Diego Armando Maradona was born on 30 October 1960 in Lanús, on the southern edge of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. The fifth of eight children born to Diego Maradona Senior, a factory worker who had migrated from Corrientes, and Dalma Salvadora Franco, he grew up in Villa Fiorito, a shantytown where the family sometimes lacked enough food. He received his first football at age three. By age ten he was performing halftime ball-juggling exhibitions for crowds larger than those watching the matches themselves.
He signed with Argentinos Juniors at fifteen and made his professional debut on 20 October 1976, ten days before his sixteenth birthday. Omitted from the Argentine squad that won the 1978 World Cup on home soil — coach César Luis Menotti judged him too young — he dominated the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship in Japan, finishing as the tournament's best player and leading Argentina to the title. He transferred to Boca Juniors in 1981 and won the league title in his only season there.
The move to Barcelona in 1982 proved difficult. A broken ankle sustained in the 1983 Copa del Rey and a series of further injuries limited his time in Spain. In 1984, Napoli paid a then-world-record fee of approximately £6.9 million to bring him to southern Italy. The match between player and city was one of the most extraordinary in the sport's history. Maradona transformed a club that had never won the Italian championship into a serial title winner, delivering Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990, the Coppa Italia in 1987, and the UEFA Cup in 1989. For a southern Italian city accustomed to the condescension of the industrialized north, his victories carried a political charge that went well beyond football.
The 1986 World Cup in Mexico was the culmination. In the quarterfinal against England — played four years after the Falklands War — he scored two of the most discussed goals in football history within four minutes: one punched in with his fist, attributed by Maradona himself to the "hand of God"; the second a sixty-metre run past six English players, voted Goal of the Century in a 2002 FIFA poll. Argentina won the tournament. Maradona was named the competition's best player.
The descent was public and prolonged. Cocaine addiction became visible in the late 1980s. A fifteen-month ban from football after a positive test in 1991 ended his Napoli career. He was sent home from the 1994 World Cup after testing positive for ephedrine. He retired formally in 1997 at the age of thirty-six.

The Moon also sextiles Saturn at 13°23' Capricorn (3°34'), introducing structural discipline to the emotional faculty. The emotional porosity of the Pisces Moon is stabilized, though not eliminated, by this contact with Saturn.
### Mercury retrograde in Scorpio square Uranus: the rule-breaking mind
Mercury at 23°26' Scorpio retrograde squares Uranus at 25°20' Leo (1°54'). Mercury governs communication, information processing, and the patterns by which the mind organizes reality. Uranus governs disruption, sudden insight, and the capacity to see what convention renders invisible. The square places them in tension: a mind that probes beneath surfaces (Mercury in Scorpio retrograde) is pressured by an inventive, authority-challenging impulse (Uranus in Leo). The tradition reads this as a mind that finds conventional solutions insufficient and reaches for the unprecedented.
### Mars opposition Saturn across Cancer-Capricorn: action against structure
Mars at 15°47' Cancer opposes Saturn at 13°23' Capricorn (2°24'). Mars in Cancer governs action rooted in emotional origin, in family, in the place one comes from. Saturn in Capricorn governs institutional authority, accumulated achievement, and the structures that outlast any individual. The opposition places them in direct polarity: the impulse to act from instinct and origin is in structural tension with the weight of the system.
Jupiter at 0°45' Capricorn joins Saturn in the second house, doubling the Capricorn emphasis. The tradition reads Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in Capricorn as configurations of large-scale structural ambition — the drive to build something that endures within the existing institutional framework, or to break it.

The years that followed oscillated between rehabilitation, television appearances, political advocacy — including a public friendship with Fidel Castro — and management roles, most notably a two-year tenure as manager of the Argentine national team from 2008 to 2010.
On 25 November 2020, Maradona died at his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires province, of acute pulmonary oedema, three weeks after emergency surgery for a subdural haematoma. He was sixty years old. Argentina declared three days of national mourning. Eight medical professionals were subsequently charged with criminal negligence.
