LeBron James

LeBron Raymone James was born on 30 December 1984 in Akron, Ohio, and was raised by his mother in challenging circumstances. He emerged as a basketball prodigy while still at high school, attracting national attention and being widely projected as a future star before he had played a professional game.

He entered the NBA directly from high school, selected first overall by his home-state team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over a long and sustained career at the highest level he played for the Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers, winning four NBA championships across the three franchises and being named the league's Most Valuable Player four times. He led Cleveland to a celebrated title in 2016, regarded as a landmark in the city's sporting history.
